Bolt Armor Trim
Bolt is the trial chamber trim you get from normal vaults. Defeat trial spawners for a trial key, open a vault, and you have a 6.3% chance of a Bolt template.

Bolt cuts a zigzag charge across every piece. It is loud and kinetic, and pairs naturally with copper, both as armor and as trim. Redstone on iron gives it an electric look; lapis on gold looks like a storm at dusk.
Where to find the Bolt template
Trial chambers generate underground and are recognisable by copper bulbs, tuff bricks and waxed copper grates. Explore corridors to find trial spawners, which summon waves of mobs scaled to the number of players nearby.
Beating a spawner drops a trial key. Use it on a normal vault to get one reward. Each vault can be opened once per player, so a large chamber with many vaults gives many rolls.
Field tips
- Trial spawners reset after a cooldown, but vaults do not. Spend keys on vaults you have not opened yet.
- Copper bulbs light the chamber. Breaking them leaves dark corners where mobs can spawn.
- Duplicating Bolt takes a copper block. Waxed copper blocks also work.
Chance to find Bolt
Each of the vaults you check has a 6.3% chance to contain the template. Enter how many you plan to check to see your odds of finding at least one.

How to duplicate Bolt
Templates are used up at the smithing table, so copy yours before you apply it. The recipe costs seven diamonds and one copper block, and gives you two templates.
Applying the trim
At a smithing table, put the template in the first slot, the armor piece in the second and your trim material in the third. Repeat for each piece. Each piece takes one template, so a full set needs four.

How do you duplicate the Bolt trim?
At a crafting table, place the Bolt template in the top-middle slot, a copper block in the centre and diamonds in the other seven slots. You get two Bolt templates back.
How many vaults opened does it take to find Bolt?
On average about 16. After 11 you have a better-than-even chance, and after 36 you are about 90% likely to have found one.
When was the Bolt trim added?
It arrived in Java Edition 1.21, the Tricky Trials update, released in June 2024.
Do ominous vaults drop Bolt?
No. Bolt is in the normal vault loot table. Ominous vaults give Flow instead.
Does oxidised copper work for duplication?
The recipe accepts a copper block or a waxed copper block.
