Wayfinder is laid out like a compass, with a strong central cross and pointed markers. It reads clearly from a distance and suits explorers who want a symbolic, map-room feel. Copper and gold give it an antique brass look.
Where to find the Wayfinder template
Trail ruins are mostly underground. They generate in taiga, snowy taiga, old growth taiga, old growth birch forest and jungle biomes, and usually only a few terracotta or mud brick blocks poke through the surface.
Dig the ruin out carefully and look for suspicious gravel, which has a grainy, speckled texture. Use a brush on it. Trail ruins have common and rare loot tables, and Wayfinder is one of four trims in the rare table, at 8.3% per rare roll.
Field tips
- Mining suspicious gravel with a pickaxe or shovel destroys it and its loot. Always brush.
- Ruins are often larger than they look. Use a shovel to clear normal gravel and dirt around them.
- Trail ruins are also the only source of several pottery sherds and the relic music disc.

How to duplicate Wayfinder
Templates are used up at the smithing table, so copy yours before you apply it. The recipe costs seven diamonds and one terracotta, and gives you two templates.
Applying the trim
At a smithing table, put the template in the first slot, the armor piece in the second and your trim material in the third. Repeat for each piece. Each piece takes one template, so a full set needs four.
